How often should I visit the dentist?

When should my child start brushing their teeth?

It is recommended to visit the dentist for a dental health assessment or hygienist appointment every 6 months. This helps in the early identification of problems and treatment for the best outcomes and healthiest teeth. However, the frequency might vary based on individual oral health needs.

A dental filling is a restorative procedure used to treat cavities. It involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth and filling the space with a material like composite resin, amalgam, or porcelain.

Dental sealants are thin coatings applied to the surfaces of molars to protect them from cavities. They are commonly used for children and adults at higher risk of tooth decay.

A dental crown is a restoration that covers an individual tooth, while a dental bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to adjacent teeth. Both are fixed prosthetic devices used to restore function and aesthetics.

As soon as the first tooth erupts, it’s recommended to start gently brushing it with a child-sized toothbrush and water. Once more teeth appear, you can use a small amount of fluoride toothpaste.
Top Tip: Involve your child; let them pick out a toothbrush and make it fun!
