Restore Your Smile

Choosing a dental implant can be life-changing

Losing a tooth can be devastating. So, we are here to guide you every step of the way to a healthy, renewed smile. Our knowledgeable dentists will discuss the advantages, compared with alternative treatments, and the health risks of simply taking no action and not replacing the tooth.

State of the art methods

A dental implant (tooth implant) is the most modern and advanced method for tooth replacement and can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all of the teeth. As well as creating an obvious life-changing aesthetic improvement, our goal with a tooth implant is to help restore your mouth’s natural function and jawbone structure.

DID YOU KNOW?

Titanium is the most widely used material for dental implants as it’s highly compatible with human tissue. It also forms a strong bond with the surrounding bone, providing stability and durability.

Other missing teeth treatment options
Dental implants provide a permanent solution for missing teeth. They mimic natural teeth, enhancing aesthetics and self-confidence. Unlike removable dentures, implants offer stability and comfort while eating and speaking.
Implants also promote oral health by preventing bone loss and preserving neighboring teeth. Maintenance is easy, as they require standard oral hygiene practices. Implants can last a lifetime with proper care.

Furthermore, they eliminate concerns about slipping or discomfort associated with traditional dentures. Overall, dental implants provide a durable, natural-looking, and functional solution for tooth loss, significantly improving a person’s quality of life and oral health.

A small titanium post is surgically inserted into the jawbone, acting as an artificial tooth root. Over time, the bone fuses with the implant through a process called “osseointegration”, providing a strong foundation. Once integrated, an abutment is attached to the implant, connecting it to a lifelike dental crown.

A dental implant is usually completed over a period of 3 to 6 months. This is the most advanced method of replacing missing teeth and would not always be appropriate.

Dental implants are performed under local anaesthetic, and therefore, patients will feel no pain throughout the procedure.

Some people will, however, feel some mild discomfort post-surgery, generally comparable to that experienced after a tooth extraction.

The success rate of dental implant treatment is generally high, averaging around 95%. Several factors influence this outcome. Adequate bone quantity and quality are crucial; insufficient bone may require bone grafting. A patient’s overall health plays a role, as chronic conditions or smoking can impact healing.

The implant procedure’s precision and the experience of the oral surgeon matter greatly. Proper aftercare, including good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, also contribute to success. Complications like infection or implant failure can occur but are relatively rare. Overall, success hinges on a combination of patient factors, surgeon expertise, and post-operative care.

Dentures and dental bridges are options for replacing missing teeth. Dentures are removable prosthetic devices designed for multiple or full arches of missing teeth. They’re cost-effective but may lack stability and comfort, often requiring adhesive for support. They don’t address underlying bone loss and can be less aesthetically pleasing.

On the other hand, dental bridges are fixed prosthetic devices that use adjacent natural teeth or dental crowns as anchors to support artificial teeth. They offer stability and aesthetics but may necessitate altering healthy neighbouring teeth. Bridges are suitable for a few missing teeth but don’t prevent bone loss.
